Forsyth County DSS Implements Childcare Waitlist

The Forsyth County Department of Social Services (DSS) will implement a waitlist for Childcare Subsidies (vouchers) starting September 1, 2024. The department’s $16.9 million budget has reached its capacity for subsidies.

What does this mean for current recipients?

  • Current recipients will continue to receive funding to support their existing childcare vouchers.

What happens if I need to add a sibling to an active case?

  • DSS will accommodate siblings by adding them to existing cases.

What are the waitlist criteria?

  • Household must have a need for childcare. Some examples are:
    • Full-time or part-time employment
    • Full-time or part-time credit hours for post-secondary school.

Those seeking to be added to the waitlist for childcare subsidies may do so by:

  • Family Services Head Start: Visit Family Services at https://familyservicesforsyth.org or call for children ages 3-5 or Early Head Start for children ages 0-3.
