Poultry Processing Law Change
Effective December 31, 2022, producers may ONLY process poultry that they have raised and cared for and cannot process birds for others. However, there are currently no inspected poultry processors in North Carolina that can process for others. The only options are for producers to rent a processing unit and process their own birds or take them out of state. Learn more and find a list of mobile poultry processing units (or MPUs) on the
NC Choices Website.
