Martin and Hairston discuss ¼ cent sales tax on Triad Today

County Commissioner Vice-Chair Dr. Don Martin and Superintendent Dr. Angela Hairston appeared on Triad Today with Jim Longworth to talk about the ¼ cent county sales tax for teacher supplements that is on the primary ballot.

The interview was part of an informational campaign by Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools and Forsyth County Government to inform voters about this issue. The informational campaign includes speaking engagements, interviews and social media posts.

The ¼ cent county sales tax is expected to generate more than $13 million for teacher supplements and will not apply to groceries or gas. If the tax passes, commissioners plan to repeal a one cent property tax increase in the current budget. It will be listed as “Forsyth County Sales and Use Tax” on the ballot. Early Voting is Feb. 13-29. Primary Day is March 3.
