Forsyth County Department of Public Health Nurses Recognized as "Distinguished 100" in NC
Forsyth County Department of Public Health is proud to announce that four of our Public Health Nurses have been chosen as part of the “100 Distinguished NC Public Health Nurses,” awarded as part of the 100 Years of the Office of Public Health Nursing Centennial Celebrations. Nurses nominated for this award must demonstrate an area of excellence in one or more of four standards: Professionalism, Community-Centered Care, Innovation, and Collaboration.
Lindsay Novacek, DNP-PHNL, RN, CCHP
Clinical Nurse Monitor, Jail Health
Lindsay works closely with the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office and the Medical Provider for the Forsyth County Jail. She helps ensure that the detention center residents are receiving the quality medical care that is on par with national standards of care. Her favorite thing about nursing is that there are so many ways to be an exceptional nurse, and the many different routes you can take within the profession!
Lindsay graduated from the University of Arizona College of Nursing with a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing. She also holds a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) with a Public Health Nurse Leader role concentration from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, College of Nursing.
Hannah Phillips, RN, BSN
Nurse Care Manager, Nurse Family Partnership
Hannah works with Forsyth County Department of Public Health’s Nurse Family Partnership (NFP) program as a Nurse Care Manager. In her role, she builds a personal and trusting relationship with young, at-risk mothers to help ease them through the emotional, social, and physical challenges of becoming a parent. Hannah works in this role with mothers from their pregnancy until their children are two years old. The nursing profession allows her to more fully understand health and medical information that she can then pass on to her clients.
Hannah graduated from Milligan College Area of Nursing in Johnson City, Tennessee with her Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing.
Keisha Lucas, RN, BSN, IBCLC
Nurse Care Manager, Nurse Family Partnership
Keisha is also a Nurse Care Manager within the Nurse Family Partnership program at the Forsyth County Department of Public Health. In her role, she specifically provides comprehensive community health nursing services to women and their families who are eligible for the Nurse Family Partnership program. The program adheres to a strengths-based model, utilizes goal setting and problem solving techniques, and improves pregnancy outcomes and child health and development. Keisha enjoys teaching and supporting her clients in having a healthy baby, and is proud of the time the families have invested in the two and a half year program.
Keisha graduated from Winston-Salem State University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing. She is also an International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC).
Beverly Barber, RNC, BSN
Nurse Care Manager, Nurse Family Partnership
Beverly is also a Nurse Care Manager within the Nurse Family Partnership program at the Forsyth County Department of Public Health. In her role, she works with first-time mothers and helps prepare them for pregnancy, birth, and motherhood. She has always loved working with women and children, and enjoys getting to know her patients, clients, and their families through providing individualized care. Beverly is guided by the golden principle of treating her patients and clients how she would like to be treated.
Beverly received her Diploma in Nursing from the Watts School of Nursing in Durham, North Carolina, which is known as the oldest nursing program in the state. She then went on to receive her Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing from Winston-Salem State University.
