Stauber Farm County Historic Marker Unveiling

A local historic marker commemorating the Samuel and Sarah Stauber Farm will be unveiled at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, May 7, at the Stauber Farm, 6085 Bethania-Tobaccoville Road in Pfafftown.

The 1852 Stauber Farm represents Forsyth County’s agrarian development in the mid-to-late 19th century. Samuel B. Stauber, a Moravian from nearby Bethania, became a prosperous farmer and by 1860, his 600-acre farm was among the largest in the region. The house reflects an architectural transition as German Moravian building customs were paired with the nationally popular Greek Revival style. The porch is a 20th-century modification. Extant outbuildings include the large barn across the road.

Speakers at the unveiling will include Forsyth County Board of Commissioners Vice-Chairman, Don Martin; Tina Thacker of the Historic Resources Commission; Gwynne Taylor, Historic Preservation Consultant; and property owner Charles Taft.
