At the North Carolina Teen Leadership Council at Betsy-Jeff Penn 4-H Center, Forsyth County 4-H member, Nathan Barrick was given the honor of being selected as one of North Carolina 4-H's Youth Volunteers of the Year.
Nathan is the 16 year old son of Michael and Melinda Barrick of Winston-Salem, NC and is a member of both the Trailblazer Teen and the Carolina Inspirational Artist (C.I.A.) 4-H Clubs. In addition he has been elected to serve as the Forsyth County 4-H Council President for the past three terms.
Nathan was selected because of his overwhelming number of 4-H community service hours and his North Carolina 4-H Citizenship Focus project that he implemented called Hope 2 Others. The project is based on a national project that was created to offer hope to the homeless by providing them with a meal, socks, tissues and other items in a bag. Over 250 bags have been handed out by Forsyth County 4-H since the projects creation in 2010.
