Despite showers moving through the area today, fine particle concentrations are still hovering near the Code Green/Yellow threshold. Ozone concentrations are low and Code Green. Mainly sunny skies will return for the rest of the workweek with only a slight chance of thunderstorms. Ozone production is expected to increase as a result and averages could net out in the lower Code Yellow range by Thursday and Friday. High pressure looks to drift eastward out of the Ohio Valley and pass by to our north. It will be close enough that we will begin to pull some of our air from that air mass, which contains pockets of Code Yellow particle pollution. Since readings are already near the Code Green/Yellow threshold today, lower Code Yellow particle pollution is expected to continue through the rest of the workweek. (Perrotte)
