Mostly sunny skies and hot temperatures has allowed ozone to climb into the upper YELLOW range, Monday. Particle pollution is also MODERATE as light and variable winds lead to air mass stagnation. The hot conditions will persist into Tuesday but low level moisture will be on the increase leading to a better chance of afternoon showers and thunderstorms. Due to widespread nature of the afternoon storms, ozone and particle pollution are expected to remain code YELLOW, Tuesday. A significant increase in the chances of showers and thunderstorms will occur Wednesday and Thursday as a front approaches the Triad, from the west. As it appears now, ozone and particle pollution will return back to code GREEN, Wednesday and Thursday, due to the forecasted unsettled weather (GENTRY).
