Pawpaw Field Day

WHEN: Sept. 7, 2024, between 10:00 a.m.–3 p.m.
WHERE: N.C. Cooperative Extension, Forsyth County Center, Winston Salem, NC

Did you know that pawpaw (Asimina triloba) produces the largest fruit native to the Eastern US? The pawpaw tree’s fruit has a thin green skin, large black seeds, and smooth, sunshine-yellow, custard-like flesh. Its flavor palate is frequently compared to banana, mango, vanilla, pineapple, and even butterscotch! Pawpaw is a deciduous, native, understory tree that grows in deep shade to full sunlight in moist, nutrient-rich forests.

Come join us this year to learn about this tree and taste its unique fruit at the 2024 Pawpaw Field Day on Sept. 7, 2024, between 10:00 a.m.–3 p.m. at the Forsyth County office demonstration orchard in Winston-Salem. Drop-in any time throughout the day. This year's fun-filled field day will feature tours, pawpaw tastings, hourly educational talks, recipes, trees for sale (while supplies last), and activities for the little ones!
