The Rural Hall Community Garden "spouted" in 2009 with ten in-ground garden plots involving ten families. Today, the garden consists of 44 raised beds involving twenty-five households. The gardeners use the produce and extra is donated to area needy families.The purpose of this garden is to enable families and individuals to grow their own food while also donating produce to food banks and pantries. This garden consists of forty-four raised beds utilizing the square foot gardening technique. Each gardening family has an assigned bed and there are three large beds devoted totally as food bank beds. The Rural Hall Community Garden Board of Directors asks for a $10 donation per 4ft. X 8ft. bed to help pay the water bill each summer. Workdays are scheduled as needed. Volunteers are welcome on workdays and other coordinated events. Help is needed with planting, watering, weeding, and general maintenance.
